The annual St. Clement's
Church/Rosedale VFC carnival went off without a hitch again this year.
With the support of many church and fire company members, and most
importantly the community, this years carnival was a tremendous success!
Carnival chairperson Bill Potts
begins planning this large event in the early months of the year, when
most of us aren't even thinking about it. Permits, prizes, and the
ride attractions must all be secured many months ahead of the event.
During the month leading up to the carnival, fire company members are
busy cleaning the firehouse and maintaining the grounds. Other
members begin purchasing food and setting up the tents and electric on
the St. Clement School grounds.
This years carnival began on Monday,
July 17th and lasted until the following Saturday night. Each
afternoon around 4 o'clock members began preparing food for the night,
which didn't end until midnight. Wednesday evening was punctuated
with the annual parade, organized this year by Steve Barry. Fire
equipment, marching bands, and community groups were represented from
all over the state.
Once Saturday night rolls around,
members are looking forward to the end of the night. This night is
especially long since everything has to be cleaned up that night!
Around 2 o'clock AM, clean-up is finished and things are packed away
until next year.
The Rosedale Volunteer Fire Company
wants to extend many thanks to our community for continuing to make this
event a success and wishes to see everyone again next year!
