On Sunday, October 12th the Rosedale Volunteers were alerted for a report of a dwelling fire at 5422 Cynthia Terrace. E16 (Captain Hill) was first to arrive and reported heavy smoke with fire venting from a kitchen door. Engine 282's crew (Kolego, Leiss, Kelly) was first assigned to assist E16's crew on the bravo side of the dwelling, but was soon reassigned to stretch an additional attack line to the second floor and search for possible extension. While E282 was operating on the second floor, Captain Hill called for a precautionary 2nd alarm in fear that fire was spreading to the delta exposure. Engine 281 (Gross, Diegel, Ciapura) and IV285 (Small, Ambrose) responded minutes after the initial alarm. E281 set-up behind E282 and immediately went into the delta exposure to check for extension. The fire was quickly brought under control and the remainder of the first alarm units were on-scene for about two hours to assist with overhaul and cleaning up.
Units: E282 (Leiss), E281 (Diegel), IV285 (Small)
