Busy Day in Rosedale...

The Rosedale volunteers began the month of September on a busy note.  The first call received was at 0030 in the morning as a cardiac arrest in the 28-05 box.  SU283 was on scene along with M16, E16, and EMS3.  A second cardiac arrest followed at approximately 0900 hours.

At 0940 hours, station 280 was alerted for a 1050-PI involving a pedestrian at Pulaski Highway and Chesaco Avenue.  This call was handled with E281, M285, and EMS4.  One patient was transported to the Hopkins Bayview trauma unit.

Not 30 minutes later another 1050-PI was struck for station 280, this time as a rescue box with 1 patient entrapped.  BC3 arrived on location first with M16 at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and 64th street where a passenger car had rear-ended a rollback style tow truck.  The driver of the passenger vehicle was trapped on all four sides and forced into a supine position across the front seat.  The roof had collapsed inward and the A-posts on each side were sheared off.  While E281 completed engine company functions on scene, the rescue companies went to work.  SQ523 and T15 had plenty of hydraulic cuts to make in order to extricate the patient quickly.  SU283 was the first piece with rescue tools on scene and assisted the rescue companies in accomplishing their objectives.  All four doors and the roof were removed in order to gain safe and adequate access to the patient.  See below for pictures from this incident.

Later in the afternoon, E281 was alerted along with M15 to respond for a 1050-PI on Interstate 95NB in the 28-90 box area.  Initial comments indicated that MSP was on-scene with a minor 1050.  Upon arrival, M15 realized that this was in-fact a very serious accident and a rescue box was requested.  E281 established command and completed engine company functions.  SU283 again assisted the rescue companies with our hydraulic tools to achieve a more efficient extrication time.  All companies on scene had plenty of work to accomplish.

Lets hope that this rash of serious incidents is only a fluke and that the rest of the month is a safe one for the citizens of Rosedale.
