During the afternoon of August 14th,
2007 Rosedale volunteers were alerted to respond on the initial alarm of
a building fire in the 15-02 box area. Additional information
indicated that the fire was in an auto shop, where multiple vehicles
were burning inside the garage bays. E15/T15 quickly arrived,
assumed command, and began operations. The building they
encountered was extremely partitioned and even included living spaces in
the upstairs floors. A 2nd-alarm was quickly requested due to a
high-hazard potential involved with this type of structure. The
initial-attack crews did an excellent job of containing the fire to the
area of origin. E282's crew performed a reverse-lay of 5" LDH from
E6 to the nearest fire hydrant and assisted crews with overhaul.
Chief Barry assumed the Safety position in the command structure.
At the same time as this incident
was occurring, a second 2-alarm fire occurred in an apartment complex in
Randallstown. These two incidents placed a large tax on county
fire department resources. It is important to mention that no
firefighter or civilian injuries were incurred through the duration of
this incident.
