On Thursday August 31st at 1752 hours, Fire Box 06-12 was struck for a building fire at 8010 Stansbury Road.  The initial alert brought BC3, E61, E271, E15, E9, T15, T221, and M106.  E61 reported a large column of smoke shortly after leaving the station.  Heavy fire and collapse of the bravo side was confirmed prior to the arrival of any units by a news helicopter.  First-in units found a 125'x75' masonary building that housed a cabinet manufacturer heavily involved in fire.  Due to the heavy fire condition and collapse of the building, the working fire assignment and second alarm were ordered immediately.  Defensive operations followed with the use of several portable and elevated master streams.

Rosedale volunteers watched the incident briefly unfold on the news prior to dispatch.  E282 was alerted on the 2nd alarm while E281 was brought by the 3rd alarm.  E281 pumped a hydrant and supplied T221 and other master stream devices on scene.  Due to limited water supply, E282 laid the big hose over a 1/4 mile from the scene to find a hydrant supplied by a different water main and with the help of E222, relay pumped back to E281.

The building unfortunately suffered a complete loss.  Firefighting efforts were hampered by rapid fire growth, late alert time, and limited water supply.  Once an adequate water supply was established, all crews worked well together in order to bring an end to the incident.

Units: E282 (Barry), E281 (Leiss)
